WWII German DAK Pith Helmet 1st Pattern

Offered is a first pattern tropical pith helmet. It is constructed with khaki colored cotton cloth over a cork base that has been pushed in places; it presents well on a foam head. The edge is trimmed with a stitched on grayish/green leather band that runs along the full edge.  Cloth cover is in excellent condition with minor soiling. The top center of the crown has a removable, cloth covered ventilation knob. The helmet has both 1st pattern stamped metal shields with an army eagle on the left side and a tri-color shield on the right.  The interior of the helmet is lined in red cotton cloth which is also in very good condition.  Tan leather sweatband is mostly intact with a tear and staining. The sweatband is maker marked with logo on the obverse and stamped on the underside "ORL 1941." and is size marked 56 marked.  Missing the chin strap.
